The school competes in the Co. Limerick Cross Country competition every year. Pupils of all ages train for this at school by competing in running events of different distances. Pupils practice other athletics events such as the long jump and hurdling in school. The school encourages pupils to take part in the Great Limerick Run every year. Through the Dare to Believe initiative, Thomas Barr, the Irish Olympian hurdler, visited the school to pass on some advice to the pupils. Hurdling fever swept through the school in anticipation for his visit, and as a result, pupils often ask for the opportunity to take part in hurdling training in school.
