The school enters many art competitions to promote art in school. Every year the school enters the St Ailbes Credit Union Art competition, TEXACO Art competition, Doodle 4 Google and the Someone Like Me intitiative. We have been very fortunate to have winners in many different art competitions down through the years.
St Ailbe's Credit Union Art competition: Every year the school takes part in the Credit Union Art competition. This is a fantastic competition that gives young artists the opportunity to showcase their talent and and express themselves. We have been very fortunate to have had winners in this competition across all categories at both regional and national level.
Someone Like Me: The Someone Like Me competition is run by the National Disabilities Authority. It aims to promote inclusion and understanding of people and children with disabilities. The message is simple: we are all different, but we all deserve the same kindness, respect and love. Caherline N.S. won the Someone Like Me regional competition and travelled to Dublin to be accredited the award and to be put forward for the national award in which they came 2nd in all of Ireland. It was an amazing achievement and a testament to the inclusive, kind atmosphere and ethos of Caherline N.S.
Doodle 4 Google: The school takes part in this national art competition. The pupils have to create their own homepage for the Google slogan based on the chosen theme.
Design a Christmas card: The pupils take part in designing their own personalised Christmas cards every year. The pupils really enjoy this project, and look forward to seeing the Christmas cards that they created arrive at school, so that they can distribute them to all their friends and relatives.
Local community artwork: The school has created art for the church at different times of the liturgical year, for the Old School for different occasions and to brighten it up and for the residents of St Michaels nursing home.
