Our ASF committee have organised a soccer tournament for pupils in 1st-3rd class. This will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Today our tournament began in glorious sunshine. Our ASF committee will manage the teams, administrate the tournament and referee all games throughout the tournament. We look forward to talking and discussing the tournament with all involved over the next couple of weeks.
In conjunction with Limerick Sports Partnerships we are taking part in a walking challenge in our school. We completed our first 1km today around our Active walkway. This initiative is called the Fit Kidz Kilometre Walking Challenge.
This initiative involves school children and teachers taking up the challenge to complete distances of 10km or 21km. Each class in the school wishing to take part in this initiative will receive a Challenge Resource Pack. This pack includes a large poster for each participating class and individual cards allowing students to track their own progress in the challenge. Walks can be completed anywhere and each school can complete the challenge at their own pace.
We will complete this initiative at 10.45am every day.
The whole school went on their school tours today to different locations. This year the school tours featured lots of activities in conjunction with our active flag campaign. Juniors and Seniors visited Parsons Green where they had a boat ride, visited the indoor and outdoor playgrounds and went on an adventure walk looking at different types of animals. 1st, 2nd and 3rd went to Leahys Farm where they took part in indoor and outdoor play areas, climbing on the Climbing Frame, walking along the Adventure Trail and had some fun on the pedal go-karts. 4th, 5th & 6th visited Ballyhass Lakes where they took part in the water park, zip-lining, climbing frames, team building exercises and abseiling. There was loads of activities throughout the day and everyone had such a fantastic time. We are sure that there will be some tired pupils this evening after all their activities today.
This is a quick video of a typical break or lunch time in our school. In this video pupils can be seen taking part in hurling in the alley, playing basketball, playing slam up against the wall, doing their talking while they are walking, playing soccer, dancing to music, playing with P.E. equipment and playground leaders are teaching younger pupils new games and how to play with some of the P.E. equipment. It is clear to see all pupils in our school are active during their lunch and break times.
